Nature lovers are just itching because March means SPRING, at least on the calendar. Spring officially begins with the vernal equinox, which is March 20 of this year. However, seasoned Northeast PA residents know that March is often very volatile and the true spring like conditions rarely appear before April. Nevertheless, March is a month of hope-soon-to-be-realized.
Typically, our last heavy snowfalls have occurred by around St. Patrick's day (though we've been blessed with heavy snow storms in April in the past...)
Maple syrup makers can begin collecting sap once the daily temperatures reach 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Here is a list of maple syrup producers in Wayne County PA. Canada and New England aren't the only producers. :-)
Bald eagles, falcons, crows, and Canada geese begin nesting sometime during March, whether there is snow on the ground or whether the green grass is starting to poke through.
Sometimes Canada geese are incorrectly called "Canadian geese." While they are graceful and beautiful, in recent years non-migrating Canada geese have become pests in homeowner associations and on golf courses.
Foxes begin having their babies; white tail deer bucks are growing new antlers. By the end of the month, if the temperatures are warm enough, garter snakes come out of hibernation.
Everything is growing, growing, growing...even if we can't see it, we know it's happening. The real estate market is also beginning to come alive again - I am receiving more calls in the past week than I have all winter long. Will the home sales in the Lake Wallenpaupack region match the previous year? I hope the sales exceed, rather than match...but only time can tell.
I'll be happy to keep you informed of the market activity in any area in Pike and Wayne County - Wallenpaupack School District, Delaware Valley School District, Western Wayne School District, or Wayne Highlands School District.
Interested in sales statistics and current homes for sale homeowner associations like Hemlock Farms, The Hideout, Masthope, Fawn Lake Forest, Wallenpaupack Lake Estates, Paupackan Lake Estates, Tanglwood Lakes, Tink Wig, Indian Rocks...? Others? According to MLS rules I can not just publish sales statistics but I can provide them for my customers on a one-on-one basis.
Let me know how I can help!
