Signs of Spring in Spring TX

After a rough winter here in Spring TX it is so exciting to see signs of Spring.  As neighbors we planted these Bradford Pears a number of years ago in the middle of our cul-de-sac and this year they look gorgeous.  WOO HOO Spring is on the way!!.

Hi Marchel!  Thanks for bringing spring to Active Rain with your wonderful picture and the expressions that went with it!  I too am looking forward to it.... Husbo placed fertilizer on the lawn just today, and is assessing the lawn mower while i am having thoughts of replacing our rosebush....   A refreshing post!

Hi Marchel,

Beautiful trees, a nice sign of spring for all to enjoy. Do these actually produce fruit or are they ornamental?

CHRIS, I was not familiar with Bradford Pears until we moved to North Carolina.  We were happy to find that they thrive in Texas also!

JIM, I heard a radio broadcaster years ago say we have two seasons; summer and January.  This year however winter went beyond January; very unusual!!

JOHN, I am loving the warmer temperatures.  I spent the day cleaning up my yard and planting my garden.

LOREENA, It is amazing the difference that 4 hours makes when it comes to weather.  I had always thought of Texas as similar to Kansas but where we live is much different.

ROBERT, I loved the way the clouds peeked through the trees and thought of your group.  Thanks for featuring my picture!

DIANE, Our yard is so sad after this hard winter.  I'm not sure if the grass will come back or not.  We may have to buy some sod to feel in.

LYNDA, They are TOTALLY ornamental.  I'm not even sure why they are called Bradford Pear Trees.  Once these white flowers leave they will have a pretty green leaf all summer but then they lose their leaves.  They fall off in December and are back by March.

AL & PEGGY, It was a MISERABLE winter.  We have lived here 14 years and this winter was the hardest by far.  I'm thrilled to see Spring in Spring!!

I am loving watching all the trees blossom and spring burst out all over; such a wonderful time of the year. Do you have lots of wildflowers in your area?

I planted a Bradford Pear tree in my yard in Spring of 06 when I bought this home.

It is still a bit small, but growing.  I'm looking forward to it being as majestic as the ones in your photo.

This is a perfect time of year for Texas!

Oh Marchel, The trees are gorgeous!  It's a good thing I'm patient..when we lived in Gunnison, I remember the trees being in bloom on the day our daughter was born and that was the middle of June!! I'm sure there will be blooms in nearby Fort Collins before then though.  Enjoy your gorgeous Spring in Spring!!

MONIQUE, I love Bradford Pears also.  They don't bloom long but the green leaves are pretty the rest of the year.

TERAL, Our wildflowers are just starting to bloom.  I need to go check out the bluebonnet meadow.

TOM, I am so ready for Spring.  It was so yucky and cold here this last weekend but is nice now.

MELISSA, We planted these about 12 years ago and they get prettier every year.

WILLIAM, We had a YUCK weekend but it is nice again.  I hope that is the end of the YUCK.

JENNIFER, I'm with you!  I'm so ready for Spring.

DEBI, I love Spring in the Rockies but it sure starts late there.

JOHN, I love the trees and flowers blooming.  I'm ready to see the Azalas.

MARY, I do remember that late growing season.  I put my garden in a few weeks ago and in Colorado it would be the middle of May before I could plant.

CHARLES, Maybe this brutal winter did something to make the Bradford Pears so pretty.

VICKIE, I do love Spring in Spring!
