Athens, Georgia (click to view map) has been listed as one of the seven coolest cities to live in by Kiplingers Personal Finance Magazine, one of the 5 best places to retire to by Money Magazine and number 1 by Rolling Stone Magazine for best college music scene! Sounds like a hip, happening place to me!
Located just east of Atlanta, Athens Georia (click on link for map) is home to the University of Georgia. It is also home to 14 neighborhoods and commercial districts that are on the National Register of Historic Places. Athens Georgia also has a reputation as a musical center as noted above by Rolling Stone Magazine.
The Athens Georgia Convention and Visitors Bureau has a great web site that contains links to many of the areas top attractions. While visiting the site, be sure to request a free visitors guide. One of the pages on this site that I thought was fascinating was on the history of Athens. I had no idea that Clarke County was incorporated way back in 1801! I also found out that the University of Georgia was incorporated on January 27th, 1785! That makes it the oldest state chartered college in the country.
While searching the web for all things Athens, I came across an interesting real estate web site for a company called Success Realty and particularly for an agent/broker named Michelle DeRepentigny. Being as how I own a real estate company in St. Louis, I am always interested to see how agents represent themselves on the net. To that end, I can honestly say that Michelle's web site, Athens Georgia real estate, is one of the most comprehensive real estate web sites that I've ever seen. It is by far more than your typical 5 page electronic brochure.
From the site you can order free brochures can cover everything for buyers from how to negotiate a purchase to how to avoid hidden costs that most buyers pay. For sellers it runs from how to determine a "real offer" to how to get the best price for you home. You can also order, free of any obligation, brochures on such practical matters as how to avoid calling a repairman and what to keep in a disaster preparedness kit.
You can also get information on the Athens Georgia community, as well as the surrounding areas. If you're thinking of buying or selling in Athens Georgia or interested in Athens Georgia real estate at all, you can utilize Michelle's site to search for different kinds of properties that are available, including lots and land for sale.
Not to rave too much, but this really is a great real estate web site! If you're in the market, check it out and I'm sure that you'll be impressed too. If I were going to buy or sell Athens Georgia real estate, Michelle Derepentigny would be my choice for a real estate agent in Athens Georgia!
