Speechless Sundays - Teaching Farming in Prince William County High Schools

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Executives
Imagine going to high school today and studying agrictulture, but Prince William County was primarily rural until the mid-1960's. One of the most important crops was tobacco dating back to colonial times. There are still numerous farms (albeit not tobacco) in the Nokesville area as well as the Haymarket area west of I-66. As a matter of fact, the Prince William County Fair is the largest in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Karen:  There are so many counties in Virginia, and in other states, that USED to be primarily agricultural areas.  The incoming urban sprawl... which just seems to be infringing at an unstoppable pace... brings many changes... and many of those changes are not the good kind.

There really IS something to be said for "the way things were."

Beautiful building. Should be restored for tours and opened to the public by the commonwealth.

Karen,

Are agricultural classes still offered?  I love that Bennett school building.  I hope it gets restored and they should paint the red brick and stone WHITE to go with that fabulous classical entrance.

Karen  There was a lot good about the "good old days" - I miss them every time I read the newspaper and read some of the things people and government are doing

Hi Karen - That's wonderful! It probably wouldn't hurt much if we were to start over, and get back to the basics....

Hi Karen, that is a beautiful building, and I the fact it was built as a tribute to the fallen soldiers is awesome.
