Hampton Township is located approximately 14 miles north of Pittsburgh, offering an easy commute to the employment, cultural and sporting opportunites that the city of Pittsburgh offers. Hampton Township covers a total area of 16 square miles and had a population of 17,526  making up 6,253 households and 4,896 families (according to the 2000 census).  

Parks and Recreation:

Hampton Township Community Center offers recreational and physical activities for children and adults alike.  The beautiful new center offers an indoor track, full size gym and fitness center, youth and adult lounge, activity rooms, aerobic/dance room, party rooms and various programs and activities throughout the year.

Hampton Township Community Parkcovers 195 acres and offers lots of space for various outdoor recreational activities.  From picnic pavilions and playgrounds to tennis, basketball and street hockey courts to baseball and soccer fields, there is something for everyone.  A  large heated community pool with slides and tot area is a meeting place for many community families during the summer.

Depreciation Lands Museum and Park was created by Hampton Township in 1973 and seeks to preserve and interpret the early years of European settlement in the Depreciation Lands, land set aside in Western Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania legislature in 1783 to compensate its soldiers for service in the Revolutionary war. On Sundays during the season, April - November, costumed demonstrators transport visitors to life in an earlier time.  The site includes a Church built in 1837 and the associated cemetery, the Armstrong log house and herb garden built in 1803, a replica school circa 1885, working blacksmith shop, wagon house which houses a Conestoga wagon and displays and a meeting building.

North Parkis a 3,075 acre County Park located in Hampton, McCandless and Pine Townships.  Here you can enjoy biking, picnics, swimming,fishing on the lake, hiking on blazed trails and numerous playgrounds.  There are also tennis courts an ice skating rink and boat rentals.  Many different activites including races, concerts, dog outings and more are organized and held at the park each year.
