Home Staging is Un- Decorating

So you think you don't need staging. You don't see the need. Your house is perfect just the way it is.

I'm sure your house IS beautiful; it is also likely decorated to resonate your own personal style, interests and collections.  And that's as it should be.

We love our homes, and we decorate them lovingly, choosing important furniture and accessories over the course of our lives. Our homes say so much about us.

Homes are very personal and reflect our own style and they are not going to appeal to everyone. For instance, your pets, books and dolls make you happy.   I know that my house is not going to feel like home to everyone. Nothing creeps me out more than a doll collection. Many people collect dolls, but I can't feel at home in a house full of tiny plastic faces.

Personal preferences keep us from seeing the real house.

A good stager can come into your home and neutralize your personality enough so that potential buyers aren't focusing on your personal collections.  Instead the buyer can see what they like about the property, NOT what they don't like.

We want all potential buyers to be able to visualize themselves living in your home.

A staged house is neutral enough to appeal to a wide variety of people. Home Staging is un-decorating. And IT WORKS.

Staging is a great way to make accents in your house that will attract potential Buyers. It's a very good tool in Buyers' market especially.

Good Post Marilyn...This is a good way to present it to the seller with out making them feel as though you are telling them they are a bad decorator. Thanks

Undecorating allows buyers to see what they are buying. Take away the distractions and show off the product. Good post.

Staging has always helped my clients sell their homes. I do think that a home should be clean up and uncluttered and buffed out completely before selling. However, when I purchase a home for my family, I like to see family pictures on the mantle and evidence that there has been a lot of love and joy in the home. Maybe I am unique, but a home with no evidence is somewhat sterile to me. I recently put my house on the market. It took us two months to get my place ready for sale. I still had family pictures on the walls and our own flair to our life style. We had an offer in two days and in contract the day following. It may be risky, but it has worked for me numerous times. Just my experience. I agree though many buyers can not see past other peoples belongings.  Great Post!

Great post -  I can't tell you how much staging helped with my house when I got rid of it!  I thought I was good at it, until she got through!
