Building Moratorium in the Riviera West
The following is a letter written on September 6, 2005 by the Riviera West Mutual Water Company Board of Directors to all the property owners in The Riviera West.
Effective Immediately the Riviera West Mutual Water Company Board of Directors has placed a temporary emergency moratorium on water hookups within the subdivision. In conjunction, the Riviera West Property Owners Board of Directors has placed a temporary emergency moratorium on new construction. The Architectural Committee will not be accepting plans for new construction until the moratorium is lifted. If plans for new construction were not received at the office by Friday, September 2nd they will not be considered. If you had previously paid for a water hookup but have not submitted plans you will not be exempt from this moratorium.
This temporary emergency moratorium is necessary to protect existing households in case of fire and until the Water Company can complete necessary improvements to the water plant. We are on a list to receive a grant from Department of Health Services for plant improvements but the funds will not be available to us to generate more water and thus be able to accommodate more homes within the subdivision.
This temporary emergency moratorium will be in effect until January 2007, but may be lifted sooner if our plant conditions are improved
As of this date the water situation has not been resolved. The association is looking for different ways to raise funds fot the imporvement including grants from the state.
