Wordpress + Realshout + Template = Cheap Website

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Keystone Realty RS294813

I must admit that I'm not very far into this process but it seems like you could do much better with a wordpress site than purchasing a generic real estate site online.  Most sites are costing somewhere in the 40-60 a month range.

Wordpress is free to setup a blog or use it as a website.  In fact many fairly high profile companies are using wordpress now.  www.wordpress.com

Realshout - allows you to add listings to your site and enable home searches without requiring that you pay for an IDX site.  It might not be the best possible solution but if you want to keep costs down to get started it's a good starting point.  The plug-in for wordpress

Templates- Real estate templates for wordpress are readily available and look very good (choose carefully).

I'll continue to update this blog when I get further into the process, but my blog is receiving so many hits that I need to create a website with a home search to have somewhere to send everyone to lock in the business I'm missing.

Thanks for the headsup.  My associate and I have been working to find a better solution and here you are.  I will check this out in the morning.

I'll keep you posted.  I just sent an email to see how well realshout will work with the template that I'm favoring at the moment.  I just want it to be clean.  I found some IDX sources for wordpress but most were 40+ a month plus 5-10 for wordpress hosting.  More power than a generic site, but not much cheaper.

It matters to us as much as it matters to you.

I will have to check this out.  I do Wordpress, but haven't looked in to the Realshout or the template.  Thanks for the info.

Mike - check it out.  I'm looking into a lot of options right now.  I just need something better than your run of the mill realtor website.

I am working through wordpress currently, I haven't given it the attention it deserves as of yet, but thanks to your push I think that will be coming shortly...

Who have you found to be good for hosting?

I'm using bluehost which has been flawless so far, but I've found there a lot of other cheaper options

This site allows for 10 domains and unlimited usage for $9.99/yr which is really cheap.  Bluehost allows more domains as well.  If you go to wordpress.org it will provide some other options.

I'm operating my site as described above.  The real key to this whole website thing is driving traffic to it via your blog whether it be on wordpress or here at AR.  I'm trying to get more traffic direct to wordpress by blogging there.

I like the interaction here so I still post here some also.

Thanks for the info. I find Activerain to be most useful as a tool to get relevent opinions on any real estate topic. Keeping a few other blog sites open to drive traffic is definately the way to go. Have you had any success with a Facebook business page?

I've had more success with my 365 things to do in Gettysburg Pennsylvania page than my real estate page.  I can't seem to get that many followers/ Likes on my business page.  My info page has gone over 350 fans and I've only post 10 times.
