The Gallup Well-Being Index is calculated on a scale of 0 to 100, where a score of 100 would represent ideal well-being, across six sub-indexes:

  1. Life evaluation,
  2. Emotional health,
  3. Work environment,
  4. Physical health,
  5. Healthy behaviors,
  6. Access to basic necessities.

The 2009 Well-Being Index score for the country (65.9) is unchanged from 2008.

Katie: I agree- many of us would love to live in Hawaii.  I haven't been there in too long- in addition to the beaches, I miss fresh guava juice!  It's not the same anywhere else...
