Green with Envy

By
Home Stager with Staged Makeovers
I recently staged a home with green kitchen cabinets.  I was warned by the realtor before the appointment.  "Not to worry," I relayed to the realtor.  "I just cut out a cabinet ad in my kitchen design magazine that highlights green cabinets."  I told her that I don't believe that green is the new white, but with the right wall, counter and appliance applications, it could look great.  I suggested white formica countertops, white walls and stainless appliances (similar to the kitchen design magazine's look).  When I gave the homeowner the picture from the magazine she was excited and agreed to my suggestions.  Just like buyers, homeowners sometimes need to see the completed look.  Design magazines are vital resources for me.  It's a great way to get staging ideas and to know what's in style.

When I was kid, we had medium-dark green cabinets and they were antiqued.  Sounds disgusting, but it really looked great with the rest of the decor.  I guess a lot depends on exactly what shade of green!

Great idea about using the design magazines.  There was an earlier post from a woman venting about a client with purple and red walls.  Any thing like that in the design magazines (LOL)!

I personally have green cabinets with cream walls and the interior of the cabinets are painted cream. I think that looks great...sure beats the ubiquitious oak cabinets all the builders use in my area. I am considering forming a sub chapter of the "Ban Ugly WallPaper Movement" called "Ban Cheap A** Oak Cabinets"

As much as I keep trying to pay for my parents to get rid of their 1977 orange Formica counters, they still have them. Maybe I could just pay to have their home stagged for the holidays - lol
