I attended the PTO informational meeting tonight for Republic School District. It was great to hear from the four candidates running for school board and what each person envisions for the future of our schools. The candidates are as follows:

Lance Beckemier

Calvin Cowin

Dr. Ruth Ann Wood-Humiston

Rusty Swift

I particularly enjoyed the presentation from Dr. Vern Minor regarding the school reconfiguration. Many parents have concerns regarding the new school boundaries, transportation issues, school scheduling, building budgets and the logistics of integrating multiple grades per building.

Dr. Minor addressed each topic individually and thoroughly explained how the process will occur. It was very informative. As a parent with three children in the district, I feel much more at ease with the reconfiguration and know that the change, albeit difficult, is necessary for the continued growth and success of our school district and our overall community.

I feel our children are in excellent hands of a school board and administration who truly care about improving the quality of education for every student. I am thankful for all of the educators who have spent endless hours dedicated to making this transition as positive and stress-free as possible for our families.

I encourage all parents to become involved in PTO, attend meetings, volunteer regularly and contribute to the betterment of our schools.
