Window Shopping Sells Homes

We have talked time and again about the work it takes to get a home ready to be show ready, we have posted over and over again about the work it takes to keep that home in show ready condition. We’ve discussed the importance of that all important first impression from the curb appeal, to the front door, to the first look once entering.

Well how do you get that home you are hoping to sell in show ready condition includes how that home is illuminated. Literally, the lighting that reflects on that first view is just as an important moment as all of the previous elements. How do you accomplish that perfect lighting, here are a few tips.

First of all, windows need to be sparkling clean; they need to set that room off with sparkling sunlight throughout the room. That can only be accomplished by getting the inside and outside of all those windows crystal clean, but don’t stop there.

The entire window needs to be attractive, a perfectly cleaned, sparkling window pane means nothing if it encased in a rotting, peeling unattractive frame. Everything that encompasses that window needs to be in top working order. The latches, the trim, the screens, the sills etc, everything needs to be not only in top working order, but shiny and clean as well. Take extra effort to out time into the screens, if they are rusty and dirty replace them, don’t just take them out because a seasoned buyer is going to ask where the screens are.

It is not going to be the decision maker, but it will definitely affect that all so important first impression.

Get those windows in shape, get those sun rays shining on through making your home look like the inviting place people are going to want to make their home.

Gerry: good points. I think windows are often overlooked by many people. I've been in lots of opens where the windows needed a good cleaning, especially on the outside. I've found using newspaper to clean windows with gives them a great sparkle - but use plastic gloves or you get newsprint all over your hands! Have a great day!
