U.S. Marines have been called Leathernecks since the time when their old uniforms had large leather collars to prevent injuries from sword slashing. The nickname was made popular with the public when John Wayne starred in the feature film. "The Flying Leathernecks."
The Flying Leatherneck museum is the only museum in the world dedicated to the primary purpose of preserving the history of Marine Corps Aviation. 25 vintage aircrafts, artifacts that date back to the earliest days of the Corps & the incredible trophy display.
