And after living on the water - more specifically - waterfront- for more than 20 years, I enthusiastically agree. However, I have found that lake living changes as we go through our own seasons of life.
Here in Shell Knob, on Table Rock Lake, we attract families that are either looking for that lake cottage for week ends and vacations, or it is the couple looking ahead to retirement and their dreams of leisure living on the water.
Summer home or retirement plans - it doesn't matter which, we seem to thrive when we are on or can view the water. Water's lure is undeniable and almost mystical. Ever see the reflection of a full moon off the water on a calm summer night? Water Skied first thing in the morning when the lake was smooth as a mirror? Cast your line into a frenzied school of White Bass or waited for that devious catfish to bite? It is calming and satisfies even a troubled soul.
Shell Knob is a fairly peaceful community removed from most of life's stress. Spread out around Table Rock Lake and known as the 'Quiet End of The Lake" - Shell Knob lives up to its name, which makes it almost TOO peaceful for some folks. Spooky quiet, I've heard more than once when showing property. Traffic on Hwy 39 is light, and speaking of lights - we don't even have a traffic light! It's a little over an hour's drive to reach a Shopping Mall, and our night life is on our boat - fishing.
When seeking some diversion, It's less than an hours drive to Eureka Springs, AR with it's quaint shops and restaurants, or the Passion Play.
Many Shell Knob residents enjoy the discounts & Area Appreciation shows at Branson, also about an hour's drive to theaters, shopping malls with Outlet Stores, and restaurants.
