Ash Creek Clean Up on Saturday, April 3

By
Real Estate Agent with William Raveis Real Estate RES.0772823

We will be conducting our Annual Spring Ash Creek Clean Up at 9 AM on Saturday, April 3, which is low tide.  We'll meet at the driveway at 19 Eames Boulevard (19 Grovers Avenue).  Please wear a long sleeved shirt, long pants, and gloves because of the poison ivy along the banks of Ash Creek.

Another group, Community Boating, will be holding clean ups at all beaches across Bridgeport, including Ash Creek, the Saturday before on March 27 at 9:30 AM.  There will still be a lot for us to clean up as their clean up is being held at high tide.  For a clean up to be effective, we've found that it is best to hold it at low tide.  If you are unable to attend ACCA's clean up on April 9, this provides an alternative date to participate in a clean up.

If you know of any school children needing community service hours, this is a perfect opportunity.   ACCA will provide letters to certify the community hours.

Thank you.

Fabulous announcement.  Neighbors together in spring clean-up.

Better than that, folks meeting folks and making their community stronger.

Love it.

Hi Gail -- We do a similar thing for our neighborhood which has many creeks that feed our two lakes -- a fishing lake and a swim lake (complete with sand and lifeguard).  When we started 5 years ago, you couldn't see the bottom of the creek, just brown water.  Now, you can see clear water and most of the beds have a glimmering shale base -- it's amazing to see all our hardwork translate into a healthier environment.  My son and his friends found an 8" crayfish just a few days ago.  Happy cleaning.

Way to go helping out the community and spreading the word here so that others might help. Best of luck and stay away from the poison ivy!

Gail this sounds like a great community event.  But you said the magic word "poison ivy", I am itching  just thinking about it :)

We've been doing this event for the past 20 years and the first year none of us knew about the poison ivy.  We learned the hard way.  We also do a clean up in the Fall.  We all work hard to keep our community beautiful.

Hi Gail -- Now I know why it always looks so nice down there by the seawall! It's due in part to your cleanup effort.  Events like these serve a purpose as well as build community spirit and camaradarie.

Black Rock is such a great area.  I occasionally bring clients there, but actually I like to visit myself just to take in the beautiful water views.
