Tax Free School Shopping Week 2010, FL. Many of you floridians with 'school aged' children and grandchildren may be wondering "When the heck tax free shopping week is year?"
On May 26, 2010 Governor Charlie Crist signed House Bill 483, the Back to School Sales Tax Holiday. This bill designates a three day sales-tax holiday from August 13 through 15, 2010, on school supplies, books, clothing, and footwear. The tax holiday is expected to save Florida families $26 million.
------From my original post----
Last year in 2006, tax free shopping week started around July 22nd, but this year 2007 Tax Free shopping week won't be until Saturday August 4th - Monday August 13th.
The following items are intended for tax free shopping week:
- Clothing and related items with a sales price of $50 or less
- Books with a sales price of $50 or less
- School supplies with a sales price of $10 or less
This is regardless of the number of items or amount of the sale on that sales receipt. The caps apply for each 'item' individually.
IF you would like more information regarding the 2007 sales tax Holiday visit the State of Florida's website. There is even a copy of the bulletin that went out to every retailer on June 15th.
Happy Shopping!

UPDATED FOR 2008 NO TAX WEEK FROM THE STATE DIRECTLY
Will Florida have a sales tax holiday for school supplies in 2008?
No, there is not going to be a sales tax holiday for school supplies in 2008.
Each year, the Florida Legislature considers a bill that, if passed, would create the school supply tax holiday. This year, due to the general budget shortfall, the school supply sales tax holiday bill was not passed.
