Time Thieves

Have you ever wondered where your time goes? I certainly have.

Here it is Friday evening and I wonder what I've accomplished today, let alone this week.

Sometimes I will enumerate what I've actually done that is what I deem "productive", just to make myself feel better. And although that is a good exercise for my self esteem, it doesn't address the issue of "where did the time go?"

I am particularly sensitive to this today because of the current "time thieves" in my life. Some of them are occasional but recurrent, some of them are once a year, and hopefully some of them are rare.

Do any of them sound familiar to you?

1. Just came back from vacation. That was nice, enjoyable, and very needed. But now I have 10 days worth of "stuff" to catch up on.

2. My love, my darling Charlie, came back from vacation sick as a dog. Since we partner on quite a few projects, that puts us both behind. We don't have time to be sick!

3. Son Travis' birthday and subsequent birthday party. Wouldn't have had it any other way, but it cuts into time that I so desperately need.

4. Picking up daughter from the airport in the middle of the afternoon.  Again, so glad to be of service, but it shot several hours.

5. NCAA tournament. Need Isay more? Go Boilers!

6. NIT tournament....for those who didn't make the big dance.

7. Yes, even ActiveRain. As well as email, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and all the other things I'm supposed to keep up with in addition to actually selling houses.

8. I need to get those 16 hours of mandatory continuing ed!

9. Lunch with friends...again, vey needed, very enjoyable, but not getting those houses sold!

10. Cleaning house, cooking, getting ready for company coming in April and a monster garage sale. All worthwhile, BUT...

What's your list?

Hi Lisa ~ Reading novels, endless browsing online... actually that's pretty much it but that accounts for hours and hours. No wasted time cleaning house, and not too many family responsibilities. But time whizzes past.

Hi Lisa~  The older I get, the faster the time flies!  I used to feel guilty about my time, but I quit beating myself up over it!

Hi Lisa,  I am only allowing "Time Thieves" at the moment if absolutely necessary....I don't have the time for them right now.  Still, with that being said, I often believe illness makes us slow/stop when we knew we were just moving too fast.

I've had to limit the amount of lunches lenders and stagers and title companies want to take me to - they can be HUGE time thieves!

Lisa,

Great Post.  I know how you feel.  I believe there is always a better way.  But sometimes Life has the upper hand.

Thanks for sharing,

I agree Lisa, I woke up on Monday and wondering where my time goes, and it is Friday already.  I always write down what I have done, sort of, and what I need to do.  One good thing, I am not an NCAA fan!
