Saturday, March 20th, Gail Demery and Associates will be hosting a Teen and Tween Fashion Show at Colvin Community Center in Radcliff. Lunch and show begin at 12pm.
The theme of the show is to illustrate that "modesty" can be fashionable. Dressing your heart is just as important as dressing your body. It is important to pay attention to both!
That is where I come in. Sheila O'Mara of Speakers With Spark and Staged SO Right will be giving a short presentation about exercising modesty and why it is important. I will provide encouragement for being leaders in the community and showing others through their example. There are a few scenarios I will share about young women who have been fed up with the immodest apparel that they have to choose from in retail stores. They have taken a stand and made a difference in their communities about what clothes are purchased. It is inspiring and I hope to share that with these young ladies encouraging them to begin the ripple effect. Of course this will all be done in a high energy presentation packed with useful info and tools that will leave them empowered (I hope:)!).
Proceeds will go to fund next week's Girls' Teen Empowerment Workshop. (I will be a presenter for that one too - that time my talk is themed "Speak for Yourself - are you sending the right messages?) It is an honor and a privilege to be involved in both.
Hope you can join us for this fun, fashionable afternoon! It is time to take a stand and teach our girls that their bodies are a gift that they should share when they are ready and not when the fashion industry dictates to them. Can't wait!
