Is the health Bill Good?

Email your senator Tell them to keep up the fight and VOTE NO. Yes we need reform but this is not it.  It is better to start over and come up with something that is good for the country and its people. Remember the constitution says We the people, not "US" the Government.  Do you know there is a provision in the Health Care Reform bill that gives the IRS powers not only to fine you but to arrest you if you do not get health insurance?  Do you know it covers everybody on US soil legally or illegally.  Do you really want to give the IRS more powers then they have without you having fair and equal representation.  If your senator is already voting no then call one who is swinging yes.  Do you think that those voting yes have really read the entire Bill? After all its only 1017 pages long. Are you pulling for the team because its your team or because you really understand and like what they are doing.  Even winners can make mistakes and need correction vote with your mind and not with your heart. The bill in its current form is not good for America, what kind of future are we leaving for our kids and grandkids?

Here are some excerpts:

· Page 16: States that if you have insurance at the time of the bill becoming law and change, you will be required to take a similar plan. If that is not available, you will be required to take the government option!

· Page 22: Mandates audits of all employers that self-insure!

· Page 29: Admission: your health care will be rationed!

· Page 30: A government committee will decide what treatments and benefits you get (and, unlike an insurer, there will be no appeals process)

· Page 42: The "Health Choices Commissioner" will decide health benefits for you. You will have no choice. None.

· Page 50: All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free healthcare services.

· Page 58: Every person will be issued a National ID Healthcard.

· Page 59: The federal government will have direct, real-time access to all individual bank accounts for electronic funds transfer.

· Page 65: Taxpayers will subsidize all union retiree and community organizer health plans (example: SEIU, UAW and ACORN)

· Page 72: All private healthcare plans must conform to government rules to participate in a Healthcare Exchange.

· Page 84: All private healthcare plans must participate in the Healthcare Exchange (i.e., total government control of private plans)

· Page 91: Government mandates linguistic infrastructure for services; translation: illegal aliens

· Page 95: The Government will pay ACORN and Americorps to sign up individuals for Government-run Health Care plan.

· Page 102: Those eligible for Medicaid will be automatically enrolled: you have no choice in the matter.

· Page 124: No company can sue the government for price-fixing. No "judicial review" is permitted against the government monopoly. Put simply, private insurers will be crushed.

· Page 127: The AMA sold doctors out: the government will set wages.

• Page 145: An employer MUST auto-enroll employees into the government-run public plan. No alternatives.

Now having said that there are some good things such as Hmmm, I will get back with you on that.

You can go to the White House web site to get an unedited copy if it is still there.

I think it is going to be a costly mess, although I admit there are plenty of problems with the present system too.

Most of the things are this list have been debunked if one does a little googling :)

Claim: Page 29: Admission: your health care will be rationed!

False: This section says nothing whatsoever about “rationing” or anything of the sort. Actually, it’s favorable to families and individuals, placing an annual cap on what they could pay out of pocket if covered by a basic, “essential benefits package.” The limits would be $5,000 for an individual, $10,000 for a family.

Claim: Page 59: The federal government will have direct, real-time access to all individual bank accounts for electronic funds transfer.

False. This section aims to simplify electronic payments for health services, the same sort of electronic payments that already are common for such things as utility bills or mortgage payments. The bill calls for the secretary of Health and Human Services to set standards for electronic administrative transactions that would "enable electronic funds transfers, in order to allow automated reconciliation with the related health care payment and remittance advice." There is no mention of "individual bank accounts" nor of any new government authority over them. Also, the section does not say that electronic payments from consumers is required.

I agree whatever the bill turns out to be it will be costly and a mess. We are rushing into it for the wrong reasons. We do need health care reform but with some common sense. As to some of the issues that may or may not be false, I went to the White House Site again and the bill as posted a week ago is now different so it seems to be a living and breathing bill even as it is being debated.  But I think the real concern is people are pushing for it without truley understanding it or even knowing what it says all because their team wants it.  I used to love the Dallas Cowboys, they were the team but they still could and do make dumb decisions. They are no longer the team they used to be for whatever reason it is but I can tell you this decisions and choices they made lead to who they are today.  The same is true with Congress they are shaping our countries future with what appears to be total disregard for what more then 77% of Americans want. Like I said earlier the constitution says Government by the people for the people. If one is not involved in some way, no matter how small it is then can one complain when they do not like what the result is?  Have a great second day of Spring.
