Benefits of Volunteering

Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker High Country Realty 229433

If you are at all familiar with me, you know that I am heavily involved with the Humane Society.

A $100 donation is made to them on every one of my real estate sales.

But what are the benefits of volunteering?

Here are some of them.

Too busy?

Well, I manage to squeeze out 4 hours a week to make a difference. You can too! I just am organized with my time.

Whether it is important to you to solve a community problem, advance a worthy cause or to develop as a person, volunteering offers many benefits in appreciation for the gift of your time and expertise. Volunteering can help you:

  • Make important networking contacts
  • Learn or develop skills
  • Teach your skills to others
  • Enhance your résumé
  • Gain work experience
  • Build self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Improve your health
  • Meet new people
  • Feel needed and valued
  • Express gratitude for help you may have received in the past from an organization
  • Communicate to others that you are ambitious, enthusiastic and care about the community
  • Make a difference in someone’s life

Hi Lisa ~ good for you for volunteering for the Humane Society!  Taking care of animals and educating the public about how to properly care for them (including the importance of spaying and neutering) is so very important.

I grew up volunteering for a horseback riding program for the disabled.  It was so fulfilling helping people with special needs learn how to ride and connect with the animals.  I also simply loved taking care of the horses, sheep and goats we had at the farm as well.  When I have kids someday, I hope they will also get involved with a volunteer program like this ~ I believe it helps instill everything you noted in your list of benefits above as well as a lot of acceptance, appreciation, patience, responsibilty, integrity, the list goes on!
