West Cary offers a Tremendous Quality of Life

I love living in West Cary for so many reasons but this weekend was awesome! Thanks to Finish Strong race productions there were two great events at Thomas Brooks park this weekend. A Duathlon on Saturday and the Tobacco Road Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday ( who can not love the irony of the Tobacco Road Marathon!).

I have planned on the half marathon on Sunday for months, I love running on the Tobacco Trail (which is another completely different reason West Cary rocks) whenever I can so this was a not brainer. Saturday morning I woke up early and figured "why not" on the Duathlon, packed my backpack pumped up the bike tires and rode to Thomas Brooks in time to register and the start. After my 2.5-17-2.5 I rode home, by 11am!

Today I was able to run from my home to the race start! How awesome to have two great events in your backyard. Not to mention the spectators were awesome, there were some great signs and a lot of cowbells (we all need more cowbells).

Great people, great schools, great housing, great quality of life pretty much sums up West Cary. A couple of other quick facts that make life here better:

Duke baseball is playing some "home" games at USA Baseball at Thomas Brooks Park this spring, April 17, 18, 19 vs. Florida State.

Raleigh Running Outfitters just opened in the Plaza at the corner of High House and 55.
