Existing Home Sales Continue To Drop

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with TheHousingGuru.com

Just released numbers from NAR and reported in MarketWatch show that sales of existing homes remain in a slump, and in fact, have now fallen for the third consecutive month. Despite the lowest prices in several years, low interest rates, and the Home Buyer Tax Credit, the market is showing little sign of improvement. And with a major portion of the economy driven by home sales and construction activity, the recovery still seems out of reach.

Mary Jo - We do need to see some signs of activity. The trend is disturbing.

Things WILL NOT turn around until Americans are able to find jobs! That could be a long time.

Hi John, Depressing but it does seem like the housing recovery is slow to non-existent.  ~Lisa

Lisa - There is still business; it just doesn't look the same as it did 4 years ago.

John:  In the county I live in .. we have shown increases in sales for six straight months.  Obviously still down from the mega-years, but good news all the same.  Maybe the overall news is one of falling sales, but there are pockets of activity occurring in regions across the U.S.  Real estate is definitely regionally driven.  Hopefully these points of activity start to spread ...

John: but they didn't fall as much as expected, so the market rallied on the news!

Gene - There are a few "pockets" that have hardly noticed the recession.

Matt - Seems it's always "rally time" on Wall St.

John,

It does cause some worry wrinkles on many brows. Let's give March a chance to do better and if it doesn't, then we can start tightening seat belts.
