Are you ready for Springtime and all the great celebrations it has to offer?  Chase away the Winter blues by taking part in these fun activities in Kennesaw, Georgia!

Easter Egg Scramble  Saturday, March 27

As a way of welcoming Spring, Swift-Cantrell Park at 3140 Old Highway 41, will once again be covered with colorful egg candy.  Children will be divided into groups based on their ages so everyone will have an opportunity to scramble for treats.  The scramble begins at 10 AM SHARP!  Bring a basket or container for the scramble, and don't forget your camera--we're expecting a visit from the Easter Bunny!  Rain date is Saturday April 3rd and admission is free.

Swift-Cantrell Park Trail Honors idirardo Sled Dog  Saturday March 27

A dedication ceremony at 11 AM on Saturday March 27 will mark the opening of the Fisher King Iditarod Lead Dog Memorial Trail at Swift-Cantrell Park.  Mayor Mark Matthews and other Kennesaw city officials will be in attendance along with Bill Borden, who in 2002, became the only Georgian to complete the 1,151 mile annual Oditarod sled dog race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaske.  Fisher King was Borden's lead dog during the competition.

An event titled Bark in the Park will follow immediately after the dedication ceremony.  Dog owners are encouraged to bring their dogs and participate.  it will feature a dry land mushing demonstration, where mushers will take their dogs out on a trail without snow, attached to a cart or bicycle.  Also included are a dog parade open to all, a cutest dog contest, a dog/owner look alike contest, a biggest/smallest dog contest and Frisbee catching and dog herding activities.  Prizes will be awarded.  Food vendors, a petting zoo and horse rides will be on hand to round out the activities.  The event will be held rain or shine.  For more information, please visit www.kennesaw-ga.gov .

Spring Break Camps

The City of Kennesaw Parks and Recreation Department is offering several sport and specialty group camps during the Cobb County' spring break April 5th-9th, including art/drawing camp, tennis camp and dance camp.  For the most current schedule of activities, visit online registration at www.kennesaw-ga.gov/pkrec .

Family Night Out with the Atlanta Hawks

The City of Kennesaw Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a Family Night Out on April 3rd. at Phillips Arena, as the Atlanta Hawks play the Detroit Pistons.  Play begins at 7 PM.  Discount tickets range from $22.25 to $37.25, which represents a savings of 40% off the regular ticket price, and includes a free combo meal for a free chicken sandwich, fries and soda from Chick-Fil-A.  The deadline to order tickets is Friday April 2nd.  For more information, call Ryan Coller with the Atlanta Spirit at (404) 878-3714 oe e-mail ryan.coller@atlantaspirit.com .
