I Was 31 Years Old When I Heard The Words . . . "It's CANCER"

I ordered 'take out' tonight from our favorite Italian eatery and while checking out I noticed a 'donation box' with the following written on it:

"I was 31 years old when I heard the words "It's Cancer".  Young, healthy, no history, mother of two . . . it affects us all!  And because of foundations like Susan G. Komen* . . . I am a survivor.  Every 13 minutes a woman will be diagnosed with breast cancer and without a cure a women will die every 3 minutes . . ."

Dominick, who was completing my order, wondered what I was reading.  I told him that I was reading this touching story and explained to him that just like this woman, medical technology is allowing many more people to survive critical illinesses that would have been fatal in the past.  I informed him that I offer my clients a critical illness policy called "Lifestyle Protector" that is designed to give a lump sum of cash upon first diagnosis of a critical illness.

He grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down my information so that he could contact me when he gets off work.  He quickly explained to me how a good friend of his, only 18 years old, came down with Leukemia.  To get a lump sum of cash would have helped him out tremendously.  For $20 a month his friend would have received a lump sum check for $50,944 within 30 days of first being diagnosed with Leukemia.

I don't know what his friends situation was but I learned that Dominick, although not more than 22 years old, has a car payment and pays rent.  He has to work for a living like the rest of us.  If he is laid up for any period of time due to a critical illness he does not have enough money saved to pay his ongoing expenses until he can get back to work again.  This policy seems like a God-send to him.  At 22 years old for $40 a month Dominick would get a lump sum check for $91,286

When you would like to know more about the "Lifestyle Protector" plan just call me at 224-805-2616 or send me an email.  I'll email you a 4-page color brochure explaining more about the plan.

Critical Illnesses are real.  Each year in America:

  • Approximately 1.1 million people suffer heart attacks (Source: American Heart Association, Heart and Stroke Statistical Update, 2002)
  • Over half a million people suffer strokes (Source: American Heart Association, Heart and Stroke Statistical Update, 2002)
  • Over 1.2 million new cancer cases were estimated for diagnosis in 2001 (Source: American Cancer Society, Cancer Facts and Figures, 2002)

* The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the CureTM is an amazing 60-mile journey that helps mothers, sisters, spouses, and friends get one step closer to a world without breast cancer.

This is a great way to explain the importance of insurance.

A major medical policy is very important to have so that you're not stuck with a $100,000+ bill.  The nice thing about this policy is that it is cheap and pays the individual a CASH payment directly in addition to any other insurance they have.

I don't know of many industries that continue to pay you when you're not working.  Real estate certainly doesn't.  The "Lifestyle Protector" plan helps by putting cash in your hands to help pay for your ongoing onthly expenses like the mortgage/rent, car payment, insurance, food, etc.
