First time homebuyers Tax Credit-extended to December 2010

By
Real Estate Agent with Gold Shield Realty Group

I am not used to being the first one in the know, but someone bought it to my attention that it has been decided that the first time homebuyer credit has been extended til December 2010.

Was I dreaming because I was just telling a client of mine I wish the credit was extended so she would be able to take advantage of it.  I am a believer of positive thinking and the law of attraction but wow.

Please share your thoughts.

I haven't heard that!  Am I out of the loop?  I have been on the phone all day with lenders and no one mentioned that...all spoke of upcoming deadline.

The only thing i have heard today was on healthcare.  No word on extension.  It would be nice if it did happen, though.

Hi Veronica - I didn't see anything about an extension at FederalHousingTaxCredit.com. Maybe it's been brought up for discussion in Congress.

I was on the IRS website yesterday and they made no mention of it, but maybe if you suggested it...

Veronica -

Your friend is woefully out of touch.  The housing market has been forgotten during the health care debate.  The author of the $8000 tax credit, Senator Izakson of Georgia, has pledged to his colleagues not to ask them to extend it.

Please see my post earlier tonight calling for an extension of the $6500 tax credit.

I saw it in Fresno Bee and I think it's only in California.

Yes, I know about the California tax credit, but I think this original post was about the Federal Tax Credit.

I heard the news that the California Tax Credit for first time home buyers will be signed into a bill by Arnold Schwartznegger that will extend the credit until December 2010.
