Obama Care ~ Another "Special Class" Of Citizens Are Exempted

Real Estate Agent

President Obama signed into law the most all encompassing, mammoth health care program in our nations history.

  • This is so good for our country. It's good for everyone.  Finally affordable health care for all.  This is what America has clamored for, we have been told.

It solves the ills of our health care delivery system for decades to come.  It will reduce the deficit by billions in the first 10 years and over 1 trillion in the next 10 years.

Much back slapping and jubilation was shared when it passed and at the signing. Many in this country rejoiced under the misguided belief this bill was the best of the best.

  • Prior to the vote, when asked about the bills contents, Nancy Pelosi quipped we would just have to pass the bill to find out what is in it.

Over the next few weeks more of the details will be released which were kept quiet by lawmakers before the vote.

We know that the President and all members of Congress and the Senate are exempt from having to purchase insurance from government pools, or any other mandates contained in the bill.

  • Now it has been revealed that another select "better than you and me" group exempted themselves.  On page 158 of the legislation top ranking staffers; those who worked on writing this health care legislation have exempted themselves.(Source)

So your law makers and their worker bees are better than you? Must be, because they will not be caught dead, controlled by the same "plan" they designed for the common man.

  • Senator Grassley tried to get this special treatment loophole removed from the bill.  He was rebuffed by Pelosi.

Grassley said, “It’s only fair and logical that top administration officials, who fought so hard for passage of this overhaul of America’s health care system, experience it themselves. If it’s as good as promised, they’ll know it first-hand. If there are problems, they’ll be able to really understand them, as they should. (Source)

Is this their definition of Social Justice?  No wonder all those in Washington were ecstatic.  They forced this bill down the throats of Americans and exempted hundreds more on the hill.

Some how this looks more like a "class system" than equality for all.

Good way to amplify a bad point and kill the intended  purpose. .

There is nothing in that bill that a single Republican will agree with . . . NOTHING

And they don't even have to read it!

If you are a widow because your spouse could not get the medical attention necessary and  did not have life insurance after an employer fired them . .

Your point takes a new meaning. .

From a political point of view. . you may have a point and join the pundits that obstructed the passage of this bill. . .just because is NOT POLITICALLY CONVENIENT for them

From a widow's perspective. . thank God that no other person has to endure that again. .

If you wait for that perfect bill. . .many more lives will be lost.

Written in memory of Jesse Brazill . . a great husband and father of 3 employed by my company . . . Jesse died at 42 years old with stomach cancer in 1999. . he worked part time for me the last few months of his life. . .after being laid off and his medical insurance cancelled.

He could not afford to save his life. .

He died in pain

Bonnie,  Sounds like the smug attitude that said "Let them eat cake!"  If this bill is good for one, it should be good for all or thrown out!

Fernando - You are not even close to reality. Never in this debate was "Health Treatment" ever said to be lacking. What was debated was cost of "HEALTH INSURANCE".

Any body, before this week could walk into an emergency room and get all the CARE they needed. That has all changed now.

For the first time in America's Health Treatment you and I and everybody else will have to do with less TREATMENT!

And its very common, in Europe and Canada. You know, those great systems your beloved party wanted to emmulate so dearly. So much in fact they have basterdized the founding principles of this great Nation.

As to your story. That is very sad indeed. However now, the result would have more than likely been the same. Except it won't be decided by the sick whether or not they should get treatment.

NO! It will be decided by a Government Committee who will look at citizens like budget items to determine if the cost of care is less than what the Government will earn back from them over their life.

The special classes are elite.  Odd that the call themselves Democrats when they go against the majority and don't believe that all are equal...

We have to stop this bill in the next two elections.  Otherwise it will be too late.

Mary Jo,  What next is yet to be revealed. The bill had to be passed to find out what was in it.

Fernando  I'M A REGISTERED DEM. Do not link me to the GOP.

Caterpillar announced that the new law would cost them THIS YEAR 100 Million dollars.  Employers are required to begin accruing funds to pay for the mandates which come into play in 2014.  8 of my retired relatives have their health care through Caterpillar.  Because it's considered Cadillac - the employer will have to pay 40% more.

Caterpillar, John Deere and Verizon all announced today they will be discontinuing health care benefits and throwing all retired employees on Medicare.

I'm sure they will appreciate knowing after 30 years of dedication to their employer their government is forcing their employer to throw them into substandard insurance. They will be forced to buy supplemental insurance plus an incomplete RX policy.

There is never a good EXCUSE for passing a bill which is good for some and BAD for others.

My own mother died in 1986 from cancer because she did not have health insurance.

Sara,  It certainly sounds that way.  If it is so wonderful Obama should lead by example.

JP, Throughout this debate over health care, the socialist DEMS would only accept an all or nothing reform.  There were many ways to insure those who did not have insurance or could not afford it.

When you are a Progressive Dem - you swallow the gilded cage  with your eyes close.

The next bill coming our way is immigration reform.  Look for ALL those illegals covered under health care in the next round.

Lane, This has been the largest power grab in the history of our country.  I'm glad the suits have been filed by multiple states.

Given the anger, and violence we are seeing - the people are going to unseat everyone who voted for this bill and then some.

John,  By Nov the impact will be felt in households who really believed the lie "If you like your insurance you can keep your insurance."

My family is already feeling it.  8 relatives who like their insurance are going to lose their employer based insurance.  They never thought they were at risk.

When more and more employers drop retirees and dump them on Medicare the impact will be apparent in the voting booth.
