Hello to everybody out there!
My name is Gabe Swinney and I am a new broker working with janeAnne Narrin's ECO Steward Realty Firm. I just want to take this quick opportunity to introduce myself to the green community and to tell you a little about myself. I like many people you will meet in the greater Asheville, NC area am not from the greater Asheville, NC area. My grandfather once said that all young men need a time to be vagabonds, well this proved true for me. After I left my native Missouri home I did my best to explore our beautiful country, falling in love with places like the North Maine Woods, The Sierra Blanca Mountains of New Mexico, the Spruce and Hemlock dappled islands of South-East Alaska, and of course the gentle hills and green mountains of Western North Carolin.
It was in Alaska where I first got seriously involved with Conservation. The woods had always been a very important and special part of my life. They were a place where anything was possible and where I could find a peace that seemed to open the doors to an outstanding joy. While attending a small private college in the town of Sitka I helped form an on campus environmental group, this eventually led to me serving on the Board of Directors of Alaska's oldest conservation group; Sitka Conservation Society. It has been a life long dream of mine to have my work be in line with my values of conservation, adventure, and appreciation of this wonderful place we have been given.
When I became a broker in Western NC it was because I thought it was the best way for me to be a part of the fascinating and stunningly fast growing community here. I knew the market was good hoped to be able to use my enthusiasm and creativity to provide a good life for myself and for my daughter Ruby. Feeling up to the challenge I had initially wanted to get involved with a large commercial firm. However, after meeting with janeAnne Narrin and her son John I heard the sound of opportunity knocking. Opportunity to work in line with my values in a place that I love.
I am so happy to be a part of ECO Steward Realty and to have a working role to play in the exciting future of Western North Carolina.
