VACATION:  Are you still working??

Raise your hands...  How many of you still work while you are on vacation??  (I consider CrackBerry's, laptops, voicemail, texting, etc. working.)

I will be the first to admit that I can't seem to get away from work, even when I'm a thousand miles away.  THAT BEING SAID, I have started to set "work hours" while I'm on vacation.  What does that mean??  That I will only return calls, e-mails, texts, etc. during scheduled times that my spouse and I have set.  Why is my spouse involved in "MY" work hours??  Simple.  If I expect to enjoy myself, then I need his input.  There is nothing like lying on the beach with a pissed off spouse because you won't step away from the CrackBerry.  ;)

Hi,

I think most of us have that same issue while on vacation. I like your idea about the scheduled time to do business while on vacation. I'll use that.

Thanks for posting.

Stephanie:I think we should all have waking hours when we are completely unplugged, at least 15 minutes a day.  I have seen people with their phones on ski slopes, in restaurants, etc.  It is important to stop!

Stephanie - Nowadays, it is difficult not to mix business with vacation, with cell phone and laptop. Thanks for the advise, to unplugged from averything for a short period of time avery day.

Stephanie...I think you have a good idea about having dedicated times to respond to business issues while on vacation.  With todays technology, it is really hard to truly get away from business activities, no matter where you are.  We just have to discipline ourselves to take time for relaxation and recharge our systems!
