Do We Have To Be Good?

My son, who recently got married, is working full time as a teacher, and is making his way in the world is much smarter than me.  He proves it to me over and over.

Recently he told me, that to be good you do not have to think positively or make a huge effort at figuring what to do.

He says, think what you want, but do what a good teacher, or coach, or realtor, or husband would do.  That will take care of it.

Many times I worry about what I am thinking about something and that thinking can make me feel like I do not know what I should to do.  But that is not important.  What is important, is to do what a successful person would do.

I think he is very smart.

Robert, when thinking too much we end up second guessing ourselves and start to lose confidence because we're not sure what to do. But if we think what a successful person would do, we eliminate that layer of doubt. Consequently, we take that next step and good things do happen. Confidence and faith are the residing elements for growth and achievements.

I like that rule-to-remember. Another one I try to remember (when I want to help someone) is: "DON'T ASK; JUST DO".

Robert - I can certainly relate to the "over-thinking" process.  However, when the gears in my head get to spinning so fast that decision evades me, I step aside, give it a rest, and allow the answer to find me. . .It does more often than naught!

Robert, I also have a recent college grad and a soon-to-be college grad for children.  They are smarter than me... they have the answers to all of life's questions, even situations that they've never experienced!!!  Amazing, isn't it!  Ha ha.

Regina,  I suspect I will get smarter, in their eyes, as they get older.
