Interesting Information From the Census

By
Real Estate Agent with Aubrey and Associates Realty

Some of the early estimates are in in the 2010 Census, and they are interesting for our area and for the State of Utah in general.  According to an article in the Salt Lake Tribune, written by Jeremiah Stettler, Cedar City is the 6th fastest growing Micropolitan area in the United States.  St. George, although not officially in the area which we work, but is never the less nearby is the Nations 2nd fastest growing Metropolitan Area.

These are rankings Nationwide, and are calculated by using the population growth from the 2000 Census and again in this years Census.  Most of the entire State enjoyed double digit growth in that 10 year span.  This is great information for our industry!  We have lived here in Cedar City Since 1999 and have witnessed this growth.  Cedar City's population is up 34% from the 2000 Census.  Just some interesting facts to share with you!

Wow!  That growth is even more impressive that I would have thought.

Is Utah getting it's fourth Congressional seat this time around?  You were rooked last time.

All one need do is take a drive through Utah, and visit her national and state parks, to understand why it is a gorgeous place to live.  I can understand the 34% growth spurt in your area this past decade.

Jim, the last that I heard we were getting the 4th Congressman!  This is good news!

Fernando, Thank you, it is one of the many reasons that we have chosen to live here!

Lou, Thank you, we have a lot of great views and vistas here!

Diane, I think that it is good information to know for us.  I will admit that I was lazy and got the information from a Newspaper article.

Myrl, Thank you!  From some of your photos I can tell that you live in a very beautiful area.  I haven't been North to Sacramento, but that is an impressive Valley that you live in, except when it's foggy!

Patricia, Like every other State we have areas that are more photogenic than others, but all in all it is a beautiful area!

Make sure that your growth doesn't get out of control. When it does, the developers tend to "Los Angelicize" everything, and it's not a pretty picture.

Dan, This is true, our biggest issue is always going to be water.

Rob, Thanks, have a great weekend!

Ann, That was how we looked at, good news!

Paul, I could live with that view for all of my listings!

Debi, Like I mentioned to Dan, it all depends on water, we have enough to grow quite a lot, but there will, in the future, be limits.

Russel, I agree, there are few people that like the sprawl of a city.
