Squirrely McSquirrel Goes WILD

Squirrley McSquirrel has indeed gone WILD! Our cute little Mama Squirrel knew where we kept the peanuts (in a plastic coffe container in the corner by the slider to the balcony). Well, I came home two days ago to find a small hold near that container in the screen!!!! Glad I got home before she got inside!!!

That evening Ron decided to move the peanut container into an old glass container we have out on the balcony so she could SEE the peanut container, know it was outside and not try to get into the house anymore. Sounded reasonable enough to me.

We did not think that those little hands and that little brain would be able to get into the glass container and even if she did, certainly not into the plastic coffee container that has a lid on it!!!! Well, we got up this morning to find the door to the container open and the lid OFF the coffee container.

This photo was taken through the screen, but you see what we found! And notice the bite marks on the top of the cabinet!!!! There was no stopping Mama Squirrel!!!

I closed the top to the container and then closed the doors again. Within minutes I had an extremely angry Mama Squirrel screaming at me!!! She continued for about 15 minutes before getting back to work, opening the cabinet again!!!

I think we may have to let her empty it out and then NOT refill the container so we don't have to deal with her eventually getting inside the house!!!!

There are dozens of squirrels in the trees, but she is the self proclaimed Queen of the Balcony and chases all others off! She is also the only one that has managed to get into the glass container!!!

A squirrel with a brain that is larger than the average squirrels!!!!

Barbara Jo.

Love your pictures, we have a friend who has a squirell visit him every day on his patio.  She also requests walnuts these days as she is tired of peanuts!

She would be the one to hire. I wonder if squirrels would be exempt from taxes?

That's so funny.  Squirrels do seem to find ways to get what they are after!

I had a squirrel inside my home years ago and he really "did a number" on the house.  He entered through the chimney while we were gone for the weekend.  In his effort to "get-out", he destroyed drapery and upholstery.  When we got home and opened the door to the kitchen, we discovered him sitting on the kitchen table, just like he owned the place!  I held the door open and he scurried away.

Ron & Alexandra - well, I am finding out that they can do a lot of unwanted damage too.

Jason - does that mean I can give her a social security number and claim her as a dependent???

Charles - thanks!

Chris - indeed they do and this little lady has the opening of that cabinet down now - I have closed the lid on the coffee container and closed the glass cabinet 3 times today only to find everything open again - after dinner earlier I watched her do it - in about 10 seconds!!!!

Tom - that is exactly what I am afraid of!!!
