We actually don't call ourselves Havertonians but I thought that would make a catchy title, Rome/Romans, you know....
Anyway.....I am writing this blog because in my Internet research this morning I came across a website called HomeGain. When I searched Havertown Realtor on Google. It was high up in the results page so I checked it out. Of course it had a "find a Realtor" link and of course I clicked on it. It asked for a minimum of my name, which I entered as Ima Test, and my email. In the comments section I asked that I receive only agents from Havertown. I was then told that in the next 24 hours I would receive proposals from agents and I could evaluate them.
Well the proposals started rolling in. First one from an agent in Elkins Park, Montgomery county, the next from West Chester, Chester county. What did they know about Havertown, Delaware County? Basically where it was on a map. I started emailing specific questions, to the array of about 8 Realtors who responded, about Havertown and its different neighborhoods. They didn't know the difference between Lynnewood or Llanerch. They couldn't tell me the properties that were close to the library, but were happy to help me look.
I asked several if they knew Havertown like the back of their hand and was answered that they were "close to all communities around Philadelphia".
Here's the deal. When you are interested in buying in Havertown you better be working with someone who knows Havertown. This is a tight knit community of families who all get along. This is a town where if you don't know someones name you do recognize their face. As a Realtor here I know of every home that sells in Havertown. I love this community and find joy in walking the different neighborhoods and talking to the different people. Because I work here I know about homes that aren't on the market yet even if they are other Realtors listings. I know what the properties are worth and I know what the history of value is in this 9.4 square miles. The schools, the little leagues, the music, the entertainment, the shopping all are talking points when you tour my town with me.
My wife, Stacy, my children, Jack, Sofia, Kate, Chris, and Quentin all call Havertown home and if you want to, then make sure you are represented by one of us, not someone who just lives in the five county area.
