In Colorado, our choice hands down is Highlands Ranch! As baby boomers we love quality, great deals, and fun, not necessarily in that order. We don't think of ourselves as "senior citizens" and we want to live in an active, vibrant community. There is a place that meets all of these requirements: Highlands Ranch, Colorado. This beautiful master planned Metro District located in the southern suburbs of Denver and rises 5828ft above sea level (700 feet higher than Denver) and is located about 20 minutes south. (by light rail or auto). The front range can be seen almost anywhere from this metro district with a population of 93,000.
Yes, we do enjoy the snow, but on the other hand, sunshine rules for 300 days of the year with low humidity. The mountains are about 20 minutes away where you can ski, hike, fish, hunt, golf, ride a train, camp, eat pizza by a running water stream and more. The University of Denver and Arapaho County Community College are only minutes away. Baby Boomers love the Museums, restaurants, concerts, upscale shopping and just about everything else you might want to participate in that are very nearby. The area boasts four well equipped rec centers, hiking trails, dog parks, a large library, places of worship, state of the art medical facilities, golf courses and even an open air market on Saturdays during the late spring and summer in the Town Center. One of Colorado's most beloved bookstores has opened a branch here. The Tattered Cover is a huge, but warm and welcoming place to hangout with your favorite read, or you can just lounge in cushy sofas or overstuffed chairs and enjoy a great cup of coffee.
