When it comes to spring cleaning, I have a different approach. I hate to clean for two or three days at a time. Thus, I have a system that keeps my home ready all year. I put my home on a schedule and do it monthly or quarterly. Since I have hardwood floors throughout my home, I have found the Swiffer products to be my new best friend. And there is nothing like vinegar and water for the hardwood floors and windows. It is inexpensive and gets the job done. Keeping a home in tip-top shape is a key to getting it sold quickly, and the easiest part.
If you just want to add some color to your home for spring, just visit www.pantone.com to see the colors that will show up in home furnishings this year. As a Realtor, I can tell when a home was built by the paint, kitchen cabinets, hardware, etc. Keep in mind that all of these change regularly and are not as important as you may think. This year, wallpaper is back. And bright chrome fixtures are now in showrooms. This will take a while to come to the south, but if you try to keep up with these changes, you will be constantly spending money you may not get back when and if you sell your home.
As far as cleaning out the clutter, just ask yourself one question. Have I used this in the past six months? In this economy, we may not have the financial ability to donate to all of the charities that need our help, but we can give away those items we are not using to someone who will really appreciate them.
