Worthington High and Highland Worthington Estates East brought to you by Maureen McCabe of Real Living HER Worthington.  *

Worthington Estates East is a separate neighborhood from Worthington Estates.  Often homes are listed as Worthington Estates in the Columbus Board of REALTORS MLS when they are really in Worthington Estates East subdivision.  What's the difference in the two neighborhoods?  One is East of High Street (a big street with lots of traffic in 2010) and one is West of High Street. They go to two different elementary schools. I have written about Worthington Estates before.  Worthington Estates get's all the attention...sometimes I think of Worthington Estates East as the "red headed step child." no offense to red heads, step children or Worthington Estates East.

For the Worthington Estates East neighborhood the elementary school is Wilson Hill Elementary.

Worthington Estates East was developed at the same time as Worthington Estate according to one of my favorite books, 'Worthington Neighborhoods' by Jennie McCormick.  McCormick wrote:

"Worthington Estates, Ltd. was concurrently developing "Worthington Estates East" directly across High St., but separated by that busy thoroughfare and with children assigned to the Wilson Hill School these residents developed a separate neighborhood."

High St. was busy thoroughfare?  McCormick is talking early 1960s' for the development of the Worthington Estates East neighborhood and it's sister to the west.

I believe that is about all that is said about Worthington Estates East in McCormick's book and it is at the end of the chapter (two pages) about the Worthington Estates (remember that is west of High St.) neighborhood.  Neither Worthington Estates East or the neighborhood on the west side of High St. have neighborhood signs as you enter the neighborhoods. That is just not common in the City of Worthington. In the case of Dupree Heights which is a neighborhood south of Worthington Estates East, I often think of those homes as Worthington Estates East.  I believe they are often listed in the Columbus Board of REALTORS MLS as Worthington Estates.

If you were driving and wanted to drive through the Worthington Estates East  neighborhood how would you find it?  From High St. turn left on Highland Ave. Of course you can enter the Worthington Estates East neighborhood from other directions, Worthington Galena Road runs right through Worthington Estates East.

Search for Worthington Estates East homes for sale*  or other Worthington neighborhoods.

This is not meant as a criticism of the current listing agents, it is very common to list properties in Worthington Estates East as Worthington Estates. Worthington Estates East homes on the market today, three out of four are listed as Worthington Estates which are physically east of High St. and in the Worthington Estates East neighborhood!  I always wonder why they are listed as Worthington Estates.  A search for "Worthington Estates" on about any real estate search is going to pull up homes in both neighborhoods. Adding the East would make data about the two neighborhoods more reliable.
