Mesa hosting 2010 Advanced HOA Academy The City of Mesa is hosting its first Advanced HOA Academy to provide residents with the education and resources needed to understand the various aspects of membership and management of a homeowners association. The 2010 Advanced HOA Academy will include six sessions on the following dates from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Mesa Utilities Building, 640 N. Mesa Drive:
•· Wednesday, April 7, 2010 "Advanced Community Association Finance"
Participants will learn to read financial statements, understand what the elements of a successful audit entail, learn about HOA investment options and how to make a budget become a tool for a successful community association.
•· Wednesday, April 14, 2010 "Parliamentary Procedure"
Participants will learn how to use parliamentary procedure to facilitate orderly and inclusive meetings.
•· Wednesday, April 21, 2010 "Reserves"
Participants will learn how to plan for the future maintenance and repair of community assets.
•· Wednesday, May 5, 2010 "Writing RFPs and Evaluating Bid Proposals"
This is a follow-up course to "Selecting a Management Company and Other Vendors." Participants will work through the specifics of writing "requests for proposals" and practice evaluating bid submittals utilizing an evaluation matrix process.
•· Wednesday, May 12, 2010 "Neighborhood Communications"
Participants will learn how to get the word out in a way that will connect and engage your neighbors.
•· Wednesday, May 19, 2010 "HOA Insurance"
This class covers types of insurance necessary for the protection of HOAs and HOA board members.
Participants are invited to attend any or all of the sessions. Classes are $10 per person for Mesa residents and space is limited. Preregistration is requested.
