Bring the family for a day of fun for the Family Day and Opening Ceremony for the Cherry Blossom Festival, marking the 98th celebration, when in 1912 the city of Tokyo gave the gift of the 3,000 cherry trees to the people of Washington, DC.
The Opening Day is the beginning of a two week celebration of the cherry blossoms and the start of spring here in Washington, DC.
Make sure to wear your tennis shoes or walking shoes, and especially don't forget your cameras and video cameras, because you will be in awe and mesmerized by the beauty of the cherry blossoms areas surrounding them.
If you haven't visited the National Mall, the Lincoln Memorial, or the Jefferson Memorial, now is a great time to visit and see the cherry blossoms at the same time. You may even decide to take a stroll by the Washington Monument or the White House.
