Stage the Outside!

By
Real Estate Agent with One Percent Realty Ltd

The outside of your house is just as important as the inside....if not more important!  The curb appeal of your house can give buyers motivation to get out of the car to look inside or keep on driving!  Additionally, the comfort of the backyard can help "seal the deal".  If buyers can picture themselves relaxing there, having friends over for a BBQ or watching their children play, it increases the chances of them seeing themselves in your house.  A good exterior renovation such as a deck, fence, patio or path can be just as important as a kitchen or bathroom update and can increase the value of your home.

One Vancouver area company that specializes in exterior renovations is run by John Clegg.  I have seen his work on quite a few houses now and it is fabulous.  John has been working for years solely by word of mouth but he has just launched his website and formalized his desire to specialize in paths, patios, decks and fences.  (Of course, he will consider other projects as well...just ask him!)   If you are in need of a good honest handyman who does quality work, I highly recommend him.  You can find him at his new website:

If they do not like the outside, sometimes they won't go inside.

Nice work and great ideas - now that spring has arrived, it will be a bit easier to look good!

So true Heath and Peggy...LOL...I know that some houses look so scary on the outside that even I (as the agent) are nervous about entering!  And definitely, some lovely spring flowers can make any place look cheerful and welcoming.  Best wishes to you and thanks for stopping by.  m:-)

Heath is right, if they don't like the outside sometimes they won't go inside.  I think some nice bright flowers outside help spruce up a plain exterior.

There is a company here that specializes in making the yard look nice by placing planters with breautiful flowers in strategic locations. They do a really nice job.

I totally agree - the exterior has to look great to appeal to the taste of the Buyer - especially in today's market.
