Life With Wee People: From Book Fair To World's Fair With A Smile

My kids went to the Book Fair this week at school, so I decided I'd spend the week teaching them about the World'S Fair while we enjoyed reading our books in Flushing Meadows Park by several famous icons. Watching them make their selections was interesting because Stephen can't read but realized it was an opportunity to get a book on cars. We're all car crazy in my house. I guess that's what happen when you have a quirky Mom who joy rides (LOL).

I also drag them to car shows so his asking for a car book a couple of times made me very happy.

Anything that inspires my kids to initiate conversation gets flagged and filed away to be used later. Speech delays can be tricky. You have no idea what they are thinking and how to get them to express their thoughts. Taking them shopping is always good exercise and this is the first time we got to go shop together at their school.

It's Stephen's first year and he's been very excited about it. Noah is also pleased that they are attending school in the same building. A lot of kind people went through a lot of hoops to help make that happen. I was hand delivering paperwork with the shorties in tow for three days. I guess this is me saying a public thank you because when the shorties are happy Mama is happy. They boys wanting to read is pretty exciting so we are gonna be taking our books to the park to read for the next several weeks.

Time to go hunt down brokerage keys and get the shorties to school but when I come back I shall tell you all about Stephen trying to tip over that Roman column from 120 A.D. (LOL).

Yup. Still working on the history lessons with them while we collect shots for our Kids Doing Loaclaim posts. We plan on taking a few joy rides during Spring Break. Can you say AR Road Trips? Hmm... Who know what our next set of workbook pages are going to look like (LOL). We are going to need lots and lots of eye candy. ;-)

BTW, there are etchings and markers all over the park so we're going to have a lot of wee people history lessons coming up with Mr. PDD-NOS and Mr. Autistic playing host... :-)

Great pictures.  I remember seeing the World's Fair globe as a kid.  I didn't realize it was still around. Enjoy the weekend!

Jen, there are a lot of monuments and buildings left from the World's Fair and I am having fun sharing the sites with my kids. Noah wants to go to the Queens Museum and I may make a run over there later. :-)
