This Saturday I had scheduled 8 properties for a buyer who called into the office. I have never met them or talked with them before. My policy is usually go on showings once and than get a contract signed with the buyer before showing additional properties. I confirmed the appointment by email and by phone with this buyer... Saturday morning comes and no buyer!!
I called and she said it was a misunderstanding we were suppossed to meet at 12 noon and not 10am. Please schedule again for noon and what about the showing for tommorow???? Come to find out she scheduled another block of showings with another agent for the next day (after asking her if she was working with someone else) Oops on her part. I informed her I didn't have the time that afternoon yada yada yada....
Home Buyers did you know..... that to schedule 8 showings in several towns, takes an agent an hour to an hour and half of organizing and calling to get permission to show the houses in an organized route. Many times it takes us several calls to get the appointment not to mention the time it takes to get to the first house and drive back to the office. The appointments don't get scheduled by magic.
Home Buyers did you know....that many agent are full time agents who work all week long and still mangage to arrange times for showings on the weekend. Every hour spent with a client on the weekend or evenings is outside our normal business hours which is time away from our loved ones.
Home Buyers did you know.... that we do not get paid unless we sell a property. I will never be compensated for the no show buyer for the wasted 2-3 hours nor will I get the 2-3 hours back to spend with my kids.
I am not bitter or angry, it happens... it goes with the territory of being a real estate agent.
I am posting this because I don't think some buyers understand the cost in time, money and family relationships that goes into working with a buyer. This is not our hobby this how we feed and provide for our families......
