As a real estate agent, it is always a challenge for me to "turn off" my work...
The phone rings at all hours, and each call might be my next big home sale.
At social gatherings, I am often asked questions like "How is the market?" and "How is business?". Heck, at most parties I go to there will be a client who is actively trying to buy or sell a home with me...
It is always challenging to shut down Realtor Ken.
And now, I am currently working with my toughtest client. My wife, Nicole...
Oh, she is not really that demanding. But we live together. It is hard to avoid her...
Let me explain:
My wife and I sold are home in 2006 to finance my new real estate career. We have been renting now for four years...
And we are ready to own again.
So we have been casually looking for about a year now. Searching a wide range of homes here in Naperville...
Always battling with how much we could/should afford?
Well about 6 months ago we locked in on a neighborhood. The right price range. The right school district. Even the church my wife wants to attend is a short walk from "our" neighborhood.
We have seen several homes in this neighborhood come and go. The timing just hasn't been right.
But now it is. And we just put an offer on our home this weekend. Currently negotiating, we are now only $3000 apart with the seller. We can almost taste the home...
My wife is quite anxious and wants to close the deal.
I am playing my part as a Realtor. But she is always there. Staring at me. Asking real estate questions. Wanting to know if I had "heard anything from the other Realtor?"...
I can't get any peace.
So, what really is the cost of $3000? Probably $20-$25 per month. We could live with that...
It would also make my toughest client happy...
Ken
