OK, so the winter weather and the doldrums of Seattle's dreary March real estate market, collectively told me to "get out of town". Now I am not without work obligations and you can always use these days to sharpen your game by catching up on the latest method or technology. So rather than go to Hawaii, I decided a long weekend is what was in order.
From my base in Issaquah,WA, the Oregon coast is only a few hours drive away and offers a change of scenery and the feel that I am not at home (like my previous "stay-cation"). I have neighbors who are in the hotel business in Seaside, OR, a northern Oregon coastal town noted for Spring Break and a great beach. I called my friend Debbie and inquired about their Best Western hotel and the location and amenities that it offered. Deb suggested I check out their latest property, a condo-suites facility only a couple blocks from the ocean and offering first-class accommodations. And, as I am a Realtor, I should visit the condo units that are for sale in this facility.
We decided to make the 3 hour drive and spend a 3 day stay at the Rivertide Suites. Thanks to my connectiions with Debbie and Terry the owners, we were upgraded to a top-floor one bedroom suite overlooking the tidal river and the ocean beyond. Upon arrival I was pleasantly impressed with the quality feel of the facility. Barb, the resident real estate specialist gave us the prospective buyer tour. This is an elevator serviced, 4 story building with a "crow's nest" deck on the roof level. I was told that of the 70 suites, more than half were sold. Barb said that they had recently arranged funding with two lenders and had hard money funding incuding some attractive adjustable programs.
The facility includes a pool, spa and exercise room Our one bedroom suite had a small deck overlooking the river and ocean for late afternoon wine and a good book. The king size bed was to die for. Seriously; my wife and I are both kicking ourself for not lifting the sheet and finding out who the mattress provider was. Everything was first class, mini kitchen, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, fire place, comfortable furniture and a jacuzzi tub to end the day in style.
From 5-7 PM every day the Manager hosts a "happy hour" including free beer, wine and snacks. Every morning there was a free breakfast to get your day started.
Units for sale were 2 bedroom, 1 bedroom and studio suites. Our one bedroom suite was 636 sq. ft. and was very spacious with good use of space. Prices range from $179,000 to $419,000. Want to try it out first? Call and reserve a room (877-871-8433) and be sure and ask Barb for a tour. We'll be back.
