Last weekend while spending time in Palm Springs I finally got to visit Joshua Tree.
Joshua Tree is an 800,000 acre desert National Park with some of the most spectacular geologic features I've ever seen.
The park is the junction of three of California's ecosystems: The Colorado Desert, The Mojave Desert and The Little San Bernardino Mountains. The area was declared a national monument in 1936 and was elevated to a national park in 1994.
It's incredible to see the rock formations caused by strong winds, torrents of rain and climatic extremes that have occurred over the years. In fact, the setting appears surreal .... like something from a movie.
Joshua Tree is located about 35 miles from Palm Springs and is definitely worth a visit.
