Ghana Health Team 2010:
Once again Uxbridge Baptist Church will be sending a fourth team of health care professionals to Ghana. The Team lead by Dr. Jennifer Wilson (Canada), Dr. Andrew Kingsnorth (England) is on a medical, surgical, dental, eye mission to serve the people of Northern Ghana.
Basic health care that we take for granted is not available to those living in northern Ghana as even the most basic health care and medications are unavailable. The Special Easter Offering at Uxbridge Baptist Church provides the majority of the funds necessary to fulfill this mission.
With Team member payng their own way and cover their personal expenses funds are required to purchase:
- Physician Travel Packs..... an assortment of essential medicines and medical supplies that can treat up to 1000 children and adults. The pack contains $5000.00 worth of donated Canadian medications. It is distributed through Health Partners International and costs $550.00/pack.
- Medical equipment and supplies to be used by the team.
- Transportation for critically ill patients needing to go to regional hospitals.
The goals of the mission are:
-
To be exposed to the needs of the third world
-
To follow the command of Jesus to visit the sick
-
To work alongside Ghanaian health professionals using skills and medicines available to address the medical needs of patients.
-
To plan how to support NEA's goal of improving health on a consistent basis in future
Thank you for considering how you might contribute to this exciting project!
If you are unable to participate personally your financial support is also appreciated
