Why buy hunting land in the Black Belt region of West Alabama? Because that is where the big deer and wild turkeys are!
This deer is a great example of how big white-tailed deer can grow in our area. This big buck was taken during the late rut in January 2010 by my brother-in-law, Chris Hutlzler, at Foothills down in south Perry County, Alabama. This non-typical 11-point scored 159 3/8", and had grown-up in the soybean fields on this 3000 acre farm / hunting outfit.
The Black Belt of west Alabama, and particulary Perry County, is world-renowned for its outstanding hunting. People from Alabama and across America flock to our area during the long hunting season that runs from mid-October (bow hunting) through January 31. We have some of the finest deer in the country, one of the longest seasons, and some of the most generous bag limits- all reasons why our area is so popular among hunters.

In addition to spectacular deer hunting, the Black Belt also offers outstanding wild turkey hunting. Turkey enthusiasts (addicts) can be heard on the hills and in the hollows working their slate calls, then followed by a few moments of silence as they await a response from a nearby gobbler. This big gobbler was taken by AlaLandCo agents Rick Bourne and Jeff Hardy.
