The long awaited opening of South Chandler's Paseo Vista Recreation Area is finally here! This is the park that was built over the City Landfill. We have been waiting for the Landfill to close and the park to be finished for over 8 years. The residents finally get to see what the city has done with the landfill.
It sounds like it will be quite unique. They built a 64 acre special use park which includes the city's 4th Dog Park, its second disc golf course and its first Archery Range. There are also walking paths, picnic areas, children's playgrounds and a display that educates visitors about the landfill contents underneath the park as well as materials they used in the park that are renewable.
If nothing else, it is worth a trip just to see how it turned out since we have all seen the tractors and cranes, and had to endure the road construction for so long.
The park is located at McQueen and Ocotillo Rd. Vehicle access is off McQueen Rd. just north of Ocotillo. There are 330 parking spots as well as direct access for walkers and bicyclists through the Paseo Trail along the Consolidated Canal.
