The combination of affordable home prices, low interest rates, and the extension of the federal home buyer's tax credit have created an opportune time to purchase a home in the mountains.
According to the California Association of Realtors, the median home price reached its low in February of 2009. Home prices in the local San Bernardino mountain areas are stabilizing. Sales through February of 2010 show the average home sales price in Arrowhead Woods was up 17.3% over last year, as reported by the Rim of the World Association of Realtors. Foreclosure deals are getting harder to find.
The Federal Reserve has helped maintain low mortgage interest rates by purchasing mortgage-backed securities. This practice came to an end on March 31, which will likely cause interest rates to rise in the near future.
