Val Vista Lakes Outsources Landscape Work for Huge Savings.

Recently the Val Vista Lakes Board of Directors began a cost cutting program with the goal of saving up to $200,000 per year in expenses.

The Val Vista Lakes community is self-managed and had it's own large staff of gardeners along with a landscape supervisor. The board thought they could save around $70,000 per year by outsourcing the landscape work to a large company, due to economy of scale.

They wrote up a performance driven scope of work and interviewed a dozen large landscape companies to begin with. Then they narrowed the list down to three companies and had a committee do more interviews and walk the community with them, to be certain everyone was on the same page and bidding apples to apples.

The final result was choosing a company that ended up with a savings for Val Vista Lakes of $133,000 per year, much more than originally estimated. The new company has been on the job for one month and the results are immediately recognizable.
