Down here, the weather is perfect with warm days, cool nights and lots of sunshine! Yep, almost ideal but for one fact- the pollen! When the pollen count gets up in the 300's anywhere else in the country, that's called "extreme". Here, we routinely hit three to five thousand! Grasses, Oaks and some other trees are pollinating right now, and that is what I'm allergic to. When the pine trees come out, that big yellow cloud of pine pollen actually restricts visibility on the roads! Yuck! The good news is that I'm not allergic to pine pollen- hooray! You know, if it weren't for the pollen and the heat and humidity in the summer, this place kind of reminds me of San Diego. Sure!
I was born in SC * grew up in NC and lived in VA * the pollen here is no where NEAR!!! the pollen in NoCA....I had to leave a real estate convention in Sacramento, CA because hotel AC could not filter it properly.....UGH!!!
HEllo Randy,
Speaking of POLLEN, or just thinking about it makes my throat ITCH! Yeah, "good ole Georgia". I went to college in Atlanta and when I first experienced the yellow stuff I was somewhat mortified. I drove a black car, but during pollen season it's actually a greenish yellow.....thankyou pollen.
I love GA and actually have plans of moving back in the near future- however; during pollen season it's catch 22. I love the outdoors and have to show houses yet I want to hide indoors from the big yellow monster.
Amazingly, there's no stopping that stuff; it gets in your hair, clothing, nostrils, under your nails and your vehicle of course. In this profession what can you do but load up on the allergy meds and brave the great outdoors.
Yesterday, I was about to get in my car and low and behold there was a light yellow mist covering it. I currently reside in FL so imagine my surprise! I'm thinking GA will no doubt get a double dose of the yellow monster this year. Hopefully, it won't last too long.
HAPPY SPRING!
Adell
Awful, awful. Wallace, I would think the pollen in sunny CA wouldn't be as bad- i guess it's everywhere! I wonder about the SW desert area- NM perhaps?
Adell, I can tell by your post that you are a pollen expert. My wife and I are sitting in the living room looking out at a beautiful, warm Easter Sunday....and neither of us wants to go out there. It's not worth the sneezing all night long!
Like my Dad used to say...It's still better here on the green side of the grass!
