Pysanky - The Ancient Art of Coloring Easter Eggs --  As a youngster my Aunt Emily would take me along with her during the Easter season to visit fellow school teachers who lived up in the coal region in Pennsylvania.  About an hours drive from where we were in Reading.  I always loved Easter and I especially remember those visits and the gorgeous breads that were like a work of art.

And the eggs!  Soooo beautiful.  My aunt was very strict about me not handling them.  I knew the symbols on the eggs were telling a story but I had no idea as to the work it took to create these beautiful things.

At home we dyed Easter eggs with food coloring and vinegar and sometimes even had some little stickers to plunk on them or we drew on some with crayons.  But nothing like those very special eggs.

I came across this uTube video of Father Paul Luniw demonstrating this ancient egg egg coloring art called pysanky and explaining the meaning behind it.  I thought it might be of interest to others.
